...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 AM MST
/330 AM MDT/ FOR NAVAJO AND APACHE COUNTIES...

At 218 AM MST /318 AM MDT/, a severe thunderstorm was located 16
miles northeast of Sun Valley, or 24 miles northeast of Holbrook,
moving north at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Damage to vehicles is expected.

Locations impacted include...
  Petrified Forest National Park, Petrified Forest N.P. Headquarters
  and Petrified Forest National Wilderness Area.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 305 and 316.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from
windows. This storm is capable of producing large hail.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

FOR NAVAJO AND APACHE COUNTIES...

The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below severe
limits, and has exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning will
be allowed to expire. However, small hail and heavy rain are still
possible with this thunderstorm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1000 AM MST /1100
AM MDT/ Thursday for portions of north central and northeast Arizona.
