* Special Marine Warning for...

  

  Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM...



* Until 500 AM EDT.

          

* At 422 AM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line

  extending from near Jamaica Bay to near Sandy Hook Reef, moving

  northeast at 30 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Strong thunderstorms will be near...

  Jamaica Bay around 425 AM EDT.

  Barnum Island and Island Park around 435 AM EDT.

  Middle Bay around 440 AM EDT.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Strong winds and high waves are expected. If caught on the open water

stay below deck if possible.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WATERS...



The areas affected include...

  Atlantic Waters of Puerto Rico AND USVI from 10 NM to 19.5N...

  Coastal Waters of Northern Puerto Rico out 10 NM...



At 434 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable

of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located 

over mainly areas of Atlantic Coastal waters, moving west at 15 

knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.
