The National Weather Service in San Juan has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Ponce...



* Until 100 PM AST.



* At 1137 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain 

  have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible 

  in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 

  shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.



Emergency Managers reported that roads are beginning to flood, 

making traffic difficult in the urban areas of Ponce.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  South Central Garfield County in southern Utah...



* Until 130 PM MDT.



* At 940 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

  heavy rain across Big Horn Canyon and upper portions of Harris 

  Wash. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is 

  ongoing or expected to begin shortly, with any flood wave moving 

  downstream from Harris Wash to the confluence of the Escalante 

  River.



  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms

           producing flash flooding.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams,

           normally dry washes, and backcountry roads.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Bighorn Canyon and Harris Wash in South Central Garfield County.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry 

washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
