...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 PM MDT THIS 

AFTERNOON FOR SOUTH CENTRAL GARFIELD COUNTY...



At 1131 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

heavy rain across Big Horn Canyon and upper portions of Harris Wash. 

Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing 

or expected to begin shortly, with any flood wave moving downstream 

from Harris Wash to the confluence of the Escalante River.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Radar.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks, streams,

         normally dry washes, and backcountry roads.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Bighorn Canyon and Harris Wash in South Central Garfield County.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry 

washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
