...WATERSPOUTS POSSIBLE OVER LAKE ONTARIO THIS MORNING...



Lake effect rain will continue over Lake Ontario this morning, 

with a few thunderstorms possible as well. Waterspouts may be 

embedded within the lake effect rain at times. Waterspouts can 

produce localized higher winds and waves and can easily overturn 

small vessels.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Waterspouts can develop with little to no advance warning. If a 

waterspout is spotted seek safe harbor immediately.

A cold front will cross the northern waters late this morning.

Southerly winds will rapidly increase along and just behind the 

front. Though short lived, strong gale conditions gusting near 40 

kts are likely even near shore in the inner waters this afternoon,

most likely between 2 PM and 8 PM.

...THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CARIBBEAN WATERS AND THE MONA PASSAGE...



At 644 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms capable of 

producing winds to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and 

isolated waterspouts. These thunderstorms were located mainly 

over portions of the Caribbean Waters and the Mona Passage, moving

north to northwest at around 15 to 20 knots. Additional 

thunderstorms are expected to develop across these waters. These 

t-storms are associated with the outer rainbands of Tropical Storm

Melissa. The center of this T.S. is located around 565 miles SE 

of Cabo Rojo as of the 5 AM Oct 24 Bulletin.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, lightning strikes, possible waterspouts and heavy 

downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this 

storm passes.
