A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas...



At 541 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable

of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were

located along a line extending from 7 nm southeast of Mandeville to 6

nm southeast of Manchac to 11 nm west of Lake Maurepas, moving

southeast at 10 knots.



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe

harbor immediately until this activity passes.

* Special Marine Warning for...

  Coastal Waters from Port Fourchon LA to Lower Atchafalaya River LA

  out 20 nm...



* Until 715 AM CST.



* At 545 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located 9 nm southwest of

  Isle Derniers, moving east at 15 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Isle Derniers and Timbalier Island.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water.

winds to around 30 knots. This shower was located over Fairview

Beach, moving northeast at 25 knots.
