...RESUSPENDED ASH FROM ANIAKCHAK VOLCANO...



Strong southeasterly winds in the vicinity of the Aniakchak 

Volcano have picked up loose volcanic ash and dust on the surface

and are carrying it northwest over the coastal waters north of

Port Heiden. Trace amounts of ashfall are possible for any marine

vessels transiting the area. Strong southeasterly winds will 

continue through tonight before becoming southwesterly through 

early Friday morning.

Patchy dense fog is developing over the waters tonight, scattering

out Friday morning. Visibility will reduce to 1 nautical mile or

less at times.



Mariners should be prepared for abrupt changes in visibility.

Reduce speeds and be on the lookout for exposed rocks and other

vessels, including large ships in shipping lanes. Use radar or GPS

navigation if available, and consider remaining in harbor if such

equipment is unavailable.
