...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 AM AST EARLY THIS 

MORNING FOR GUANICA, GUAYANILLA, PENUELAS, PONCE AND YAUCO 

COUNTIES...



At 349 AM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned 

area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen since midnight 

across portions of these municipalities. Additional rainfall amounts 

up to 1 inch are possible in Ponce. Flash flooding is ongoing or 

expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



The USGS river sensor at Rio Inabon at Real Abajo Ponce, crested 

around 1 feet below the minor flood stage category around 3 AM. 

Runoff from the excessive rainfall early this morning could still 

pose a threat for flash flooding in small streams and creeks.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
