Winds are expected to increase to 10 to 20 knots out of the south ahead of a cold front this morning and early afternoon, shifting westerly at 10 to 20 knots behind the front later this afternoon and evening. Along with above-freezing temperatures, these winds may cause ice floes to break away from the shoreline. Recent satellite imagery has already shown cracks and movement of the ice on the lake, especially across the central basin. It is strongly advised to stay off the ice today. If an ice floe breaks off from the shoreline, anyone on the ice would become stranded and require rescue. $$
