The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Pt St George to Cape Mendocino out 10 nm...

  Pt St George to Cape Mendocino 10 to 60 nm...

  Cape Mendocino to Pt Arena 10 to 60 nm...



* Until 515 AM PST.



* At 417 AM PST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing

  waterspouts was located 33 NM southwest of Pt. St. George, moving

  north at 40 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts possible and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally

           hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural

           damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Mainly open waters of Pt St George to Cape Mendocino out 10 nm, Pt

  St George to Cape Mendocino 10 to 60 nm and Cape Mendocino to Pt

  Arena 10 to 60 nm.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.



Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are

expected.



Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, high waves, dangerous lightning, and

heavy rain are possible with this storm.



Seek safe shelter, mariners can expect gusty winds and increasing

waves.



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.
