...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 AM CDT

FOR NORTHWESTERN DUVAL...EASTERN WEBB...SOUTHEASTERN LA SALLE AND

SOUTHWESTERN MCMULLEN COUNTIES...



At 1100 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 14 miles southeast

of Fort Ewell Site, or 17 miles northwest of Freer, moving east at 25

mph.



HAZARD...Half dollar size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Damage to vehicles is expected.



This severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of

northwestern Duval, eastern Webb, southeastern La Salle and

southwestern McMullen Counties.

A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Coastal Waters from Port Fourchon LA to Lower Atchafalaya River LA 

  out 20 nm...

  Coastal waters from the Southwest Pass of the Mississippi River to 

  Port Fourchon Louisiana out 20 NM...



At 1117 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of showers, capable

of producing winds to around 30 knots. This cluster of showers is

generally located along a line extending from 14 nm north of

Barataria Bay to near Golden Meadow to near Chauvin, moving east at

30 knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots and

higher waves. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this

activity passes.



Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or nearest law enforcement

agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service

forecast office.

...WEST WINDS GUSTING AROUND 20 KNOTS THIS AFTERNOON...	



A cold front currently moving across the area is going to produce

occasional gust to around 20 knots over the local waters. Winds

begin to diminish late this afternoon. These gusts could create 

some hazardous boating conditions for mariners.



Inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller

vessels, should exercise extra caution if navigating the waters

during this time.
