...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM HST THIS 

EVENING FOR THE ISLAND OF OAHU IN HONOLULU COUNTY...



At 302 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over Oahu. Rain was 

falling at a rate of 1 to 3 inches per hour. Significant rises have 

been observed on area streams including Waikane, Waiahole, and the 

Kaukonahua Stream at Wahiawa Dam and Waialua. Kamehameha Highway is 

closed at the Waikane Stream due to flooding. Finally, water is 

inundating Otake Camp which is now being evacuated due to additional 

water coming over the Wahiawa Reservoir spillway.



HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding.



SOURCE...Emergency management.



IMPACT...Significant and life threatening flooding in drainages,

         streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low lying

         areas. Multiple public road closures expected, as well

         as landslides in steep terrain.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

The island of Oahu.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.



Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of drainage 

ditches and streams, streets, highways, properties, and other low 

lying spots.

is closed at the Waikane Stream due to flooding. Finally, water is 

inundating Otake Camp which is now being evacuated due to additional

showers will move over the island this evening.
