...PATCHY DENSE FOG MOVING INTO THE NEARSHORE WATERS...



Satellite imagery and coastal web cams show that patchy dense fog

is beginning to shift offshore and impact the nearshore coastal

waters this morning. Visibility could drop to as low as a quarter

of a mile at times and will likely change significantly over 

short distances. Fog isn't expected to last too long as it should 

dissipate by mid morning. 



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners are urged to navigate with extreme care. If you must

navigate in these conditions, proceed with caution. Use proper

fog signals, including fog horns. Make sure all navigational

running lights are on.



Please relay any reports of sea fog to the Charleston or Tybee

Island Coast Guard stations and ask them to immediately forward

your report to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM HST EARLY THIS 

MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF MOLOKAI IN MAUI COUNTY...



At 137 AM HST, radar indicated that rainfall had diminished over 

Molokai, with rain now falling at a rate of a half inch per hour. 

The Kawela Gulch remains elevated however, and remains at a level 

that is known to produce high water flowing over Kamehameha Highway 

near mile marker 6.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



SOURCE...Radar.



IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,

         properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road

         closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible

         in steep terrain.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

The entire island of Molokai.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of drainage 

ditches and streams, streets, highways, properties, and other low 

lying spots.

MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF MAUI IN MAUI COUNTY...



At 146 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the island of Maui. 

Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest 

rain is falling over the south-facing slopes of Mount Haleakala 

between Makena and Hamoa. Additionally, Emergency Management 

continues to report several roads closed in Kihei and Lahaina due to 

flooding.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.
