A shallow marine layer depth developing over the coastal waters early this morning will bring areas of dense fog to southern portion of waters inside the southern California bight. Mariners, especially those boating through and across the San Pedro Channel, should be prepared for abrupt visibility changes down to one nautical mile or less. Reduce speeds and be on the lookout for exposed rocks and other vessels, including large ships in the shipping lanes.
