At 957 PM HST, Doppler radar showed a large area of heavy showers, 

capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These showers were 

located across the Kauai Channel, around 16 nm west of FAD Buoy CO, 

or 27 nm west of Kaena State Park, moving east at 15 knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots...locally higher

waves...and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  The island of Oahu in Honolulu County



* Until 200 AM HST.



* At 1057 PM HST, radar and rain gauges indicated heavy rain falling 

  over the northern half of Oahu. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 

  3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin 

  shortly. Oahu Emergency Management officials are reporting streams 

  and drainages near Waialua are rapidly filling up with water.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



  IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,

           properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road

           closures possible in some areas. Landslides are

           possible in steep terrain.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  northern half of Oahu, along and north of a line from Waianae 

  Valley to Schofield Barracks to Kualoa Ranch.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.

This warning may need to be extended beyond 200 AM HST if flooding 

persists.
