  S of Oregon Inlet NC to Cape Hatteras NC out to 20 NM...



* Until 415 PM EDT.



* At 314 PM EDT, a front was located 15 nm south of Ar225, or 16 nm

  southwest of Monitor Marine Sanctuary, moving south at 25 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater associated with northerly 

           surge behind cold front.



  SOURCE...Buoy.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.

  Cape Hatteras, Engelhard, Monitor Marine Sanctuary, Hatteras Inlet,

  The Mouth Of The Pamlico River, Pamlico Sound, Ar225, Pea Island

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM APPROACHING THE WATERS...



The areas affected include...

  Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet 0-20 nm...

  Volusia-Brevard County Line to Sebastian Inlet 0-20 nm...



At 343 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable

of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located

over Vero Lake Estates, or near Sebastian Highlands, moving east at

10 knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.



Frequent cloud to water lightning is occurring with this storm. If

caught on the open water stay below deck and, if possible, avoid

ungrounded metal objects. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10

miles away from a thunderstorm.
