A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Nearshore and open waters from Reno Beach to Avon Point OH...

  

At 132 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers with scattered 

thunderstorms developing across western and Central Lake Erie. One 

of the stronger thunderstorms was located near Put-In-Bay, moving 

northeast at 20 knots. 



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.

  Chesapeake Bay from New Point Comfort to Little Creek VA...

  James River from JRB to HRBT, Including the Elizabeth River...



* Until 230 PM EDT.



* At 153 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Willoughby

  Bay, moving east southeast at 25 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, 1st Island Bay Bridge, Willoughby

  Bay, Sewells Point, Little Creek, Thimble Shoals, and Hampton Roads
