...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 AM MDT

FOR SOUTHWESTERN SOCORRO COUNTY...



At 1215 AM MDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from

26 miles south of National Radio Astronomy Observatory to 12 miles

east of Bosque Del Apache Refuge, moving north at 40 mph.



HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and small hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.



Locations impacted include...

  Socorro, Bosque Del Apache Refuge, San Antonio, Laborcita and Luis

  Lopez.



This includes the following highways...

Highway 380 between Mile Markers 1 and 18. Highway 60 between Mile

Markers 122 and 138. Interstate 25 between Mile Markers 103 and 149.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from

windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds.



Wind damage with these storms will occur before any rain or

lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover.

Seek shelter immediately inside a sturdy structure and stay away from

windows.



Motorists can expect brief but sudden changes in visibility and

ponding of water on roadways as storms move through the area.

A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Volusia-Brevard County Line to Sebastian Inlet 0-20 nm...



At 248 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated cluster of heavy showers and 

possibly a thunderstorm or two, capable of producing winds to around 

30 knots, approaching the Brevard coast from the Atlantic, moving 

west at 20 knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher

waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor

immediately until this storm passes.
