The National Weather Service in Jackson has extended the



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Northeastern Bell County in southeastern Kentucky...

  West Central Harlan County in southeastern Kentucky...

  Southwestern Leslie County in southeastern Kentucky...



* Until 1215 AM EDT.



* At 1103 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing

  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain

  have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional

  rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to

  begin shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

           highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

           drainage and low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Wallins Creek, Saylor, Spruce Pine, Tacky Town, Coldiron and Sandy

  Fork.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the

dangers of flooding.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Weather Service when you can do so safely.

  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain

  have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional

  heavy rainfall is imminent. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected

  to begin shortly.
