...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 AM CDT WEDNESDAY
FOR EASTERN DALLAS AND POLK COUNTIES...

At 919 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms, which had produced heavy rainfall between 1 and 3
inches across much of the warned area. Polk County public safety
agencies report that any poor drainage and low lying flooding has
ended. However, with additional storms likely moving over the area
through the rest of this evening, additional rainfall up to 1.5
inches is possible and may renew flooding in these poor drainage and
low lying areas.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Des Moines, West Des Moines, Ankeny, Urbandale, Johnston, Clive,
  Altoona, Pleasant Hill, Grimes, Windsor Heights, Carlisle,
  Bondurant, Polk City, Saylorville, Mitchellville, Adventureland
  Amusement Park, Iowa State Fairgrounds and Prairie Meadows.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
