The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  South Central East Baton Rouge Parish in southeastern Louisiana...



* Until 600 AM CST.



* At 301 AM CST, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing 

  heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of 

  rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are 

  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 

  to begin shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Baton Rouge, Baker, Port Allen, Merrydale, Brownfields, 

  Westminster, Gardere and Baton Rouge Airport.



This includes the following Interstates...

	Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 155 and 161.

	Interstate 12 between mile markers 1 and 2.

	Interstate 110 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 8.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.

* Until 445 AM CST.



* At 311 AM CST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Timbalier

  Island, moving northeast at 30 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Terrebonne Bay, Timbalier Bay, and Timbalier Island.

Strong winds will be dangerous for boaters or anyone near the water.

Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Seek shelter or move
