The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Albemarle Sound...

  Alligator River...



* Until 1245 AM EST.



* At 1052 PM EST, a strong cold front was located east of the I-95 

  corridor or along a line extending from 40 nm southwest of Burwell 

  Bay to 30 nm west of Edenton to 42 nm northwest of Blounts Bay, 

  moving southeast at 35 knots. A drastic wind shift to the 

  northwest will accompany the front.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.

  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.

  Albemarle Sound, The Vicinity Of Mashoes, The Center Of The

  Albemarle Sound, The Vicinity Of Gum Neck, Highway 94 Bridge, The

  Vicinity Of Frying Pan, Bull Bay/scuppernong River, The Mouth Of

  The Perquimans River, Alligator River Bridge, and The Mouth Of The

  Alligator River.
