Sunday evening another potent low will lift into the gulf of Alaska bringing strong gales to storm force winds to the northern Outer Coast. After coordination with both the Ocean Prediction Center and Anchorage Weather Forecast Office, there is high confidence for sustained easterly storm force winds near Cape St. Elias, with easterly strong gales, gusting to storm force, likely for areas south of Cape Suckling. Along the Southeast Alaska coastal waters, especially near Yakutat and Cape Fairweather, winds will increase to gale force winds of 35 kts Monday. Winds will increase Sunday night, with winds reaching peak intensity Monday morning. Associated with these winds will be easterly fresh seas of 16 to 20 ft south of Cape Suckling, with 20 to 25 ft seas moving towards the Kenai. We are watching this developing system closely.
