...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 PM MDT THIS 

AFTERNOON FOR WEST CENTRAL KANE AND EAST CENTRAL WASHINGTON 

COUNTIES...SPECIFICALLY ZION NATIONAL PARK...



At 406 PM MDT, Doppler radar estimates of between 0.5 and 0.75 

inches of rain have fallen from an earlier thunderstorm, with the 

heaviest rainfall falling over Clear Creek and Keyhole Canyons of 

Zion National Park. High flows have been reported within Clear Creek 

Canyon by Zion National Park Dispatch. Flash flooding is already 

occurring.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Radar.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons,

         normally dry washes, creeks and streams.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Zion National Park, Springdale and Rockville.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become 

unstable and unsafe.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry 

washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.



Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where 

you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become 

killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or 

creeks.
