The National Weather Service in OXNARD has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Inner waters from Point Mugu to San Mateo Pt. CA including Santa

  Catalina and Anacapa Islands...



* Until 1115 AM PDT.



* At 1019 AM PDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing

  waterspouts were located along a line extending from 11 nm north of

  Avalon to 15 nm east of North San Clemente Island, moving northeast

  at 50 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Avalon...

  and Catalina Island.

Waters from Pt. Sal to Santa Cruz Island CA and westward 60 nm

including San Miguel and Santa Rosa Islands...



The thunderstorms have weakened and moved out of the warned area and 

no longer pose a significant threat to boaters.

The storms which prompted the warning have weakened below severe

limits, and have exited the warned area. Therefore, the warning has

been cancelled.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 AM PDT for

southwestern California.

nm east of Avalon, moving northeast at 50 knots.

         hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

         higher winds and suddenly higher waves.
