* Until 830 PM HST.



* At 626 PM HST, a strong thunderstorm was located 27 nm northwest of

  Lehua Rock, or 41 nm west of Polihale, moving west at 10 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* The strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

  S of Oregon Inlet NC to Cape Hatteras NC out to 20 nm...



* Until 1145 PM EST.



* At 1128 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing

  waterspouts was located near Cape Hatteras, moving north at 35

  knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Cape Hatteras and Monitor Marine Sanctuary.
