The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  A large portion of Central and Southern Los Angeles County in 

  southwestern California...

  This includes the Eaton Burn Scar and other burn scars.



* Until noon PST.



* At 837 AM PST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

  moderate to heavy showers overspreading the Warning area. Through 

  late morning, expected rainfall rates will increase to 0.5 to 1 

  inch in 1 hour. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding, along with rock and mud slides, caused

           by heavy showers.



  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Burbank, Griffith Park, North Hollywood, Universal City, Pasadena, 

  Hollywood, Van Nuys, Downtown Los Angeles, Mount Wilson, Alhambra, 

  Beverly Hills, Encino, Northridge, Santa Clarita, Chatsworth, 

  Woodland Hills, West Covina, Glendora, Altadena and Sunland.

  In addition, Eaton Burn Scar and other burn scars.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Avoid flooded roadways. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
