Over the remainder of the week cold arctic air will return to the Panhandle, forming gale force to strong gale force outflow conditions along and north of the Icy Strait Corridor (Cross Sound to Taku Inlet). Heavy freezing spray is anticipated to becoming more wide spread Wednesday night and will likely continue into the weekend for Glacier Bay, Lynn Canal, and Taku Inlet. This threat could likely spread into areas near Pt. Couverden and Scull Island at times as well. Conditions will begin to improve after 10 AM. Mariners should be prepared for abrupt changes in visibility. Reduce speeds and be on the lookout for exposed rocks and other vessels, including large ships in shipping lanes. Use radar or GPS navigation if available, and consider remaining in harbor if such equipment is unavailable. $$
