The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  South Central Shasta County in northern California...



* Until 1045 PM PST Sunday.



* At 443 PM PST, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in 

  Downtown Redding and adjacent urban areas. Between 2 and 6 inches 

  of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Redding, Palo Cedro, Shasta Dam, Shasta Lake, Anderson, Central 

  Valley, Central Valley Cdp, Keswick, Mountain Gate, Olinda, 

  Centerville, Millville, Igo and Cottonwood.



This includes the following streams and drainages...Old Cow Creek, 

Kanaka Creek, Olney Creek, Clear Creek, West Fork Stillwater Creek, 

Pit River, Squaw Creek, Cow Creek, Salt Creek, Boulder Creek, 

Tadpole Creek, Paige Soube, Stillwater Creek, Deep Hole Creek, Moody 

Creek, South Fork Clear Creek, Sacramento River, Woodman Creek, 

Spring Branch, McCloud River, East Fork Stillwater Creek, Bear 

Creek, North Fork Cottonwood Creek, East Valley Creek, Anderson 

Creek, Crow Creek, Flat Creek, Bacon Creek, South Cow Creek, Roaring

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
