The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a



* Snow Squall Warning for...

  Western Latah County in the Panhandle of Idaho...

  Southwestern Benewah County in the Panhandle of Idaho...



* Until 845 PM PST.



* At 821 PM PST, a dangerous snow squall was located near Potlatch,

  or 17 miles north of Moscow, moving east at 45 mph.



  HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to 

           blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts 

           up to 35 mph.



  SOURCE...Radar indicated.



  IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous 

           within minutes.



This includes U.S. Highway 95 in Idaho between mile markers 331 and

352, and between mile markers 354 and 391.

 

Locations impacted include...

Moscow, Genesee, Troy, Potlatch, Onaway, Tensed, Harvard, Princeton,

Sanders, Viola, and Joel.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are

expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden

whiteout conditions.

* Snow Squall Warning for...

  Northwestern Mineral County in west central Montana...



* Until 1045 PM MST.



* At 939 PM MST, a dangerous snow squall was located near Lookout

  Pass, or 16 miles east of Wallace, moving northeast at 40 mph.



  HAZARD...Flash freeze on roads. Intense bursts of heavy snow. 

           Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and rapidly falling 

           visibility. Wind gusts up to 35 mph.



  SOURCE...Radar and webcams.



  IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous 

           within minutes.



This includes Interstate 90 between mile markers 0 and 21.

 

Locations impacted include...

Haugan, De Borgia, Lookout Pass, Saltese, and Taft.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads,

bridges, and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and

be prepared for a sudden loss of traction.



Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes

your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra

time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead

to accidents.



If traveling on a highway, find the nearest exit or rest area and

park safely away from traffic. Allow snow squalls to pass before

attempting to resume travel.
