* Snow Squall Warning for...

  Northeastern Erie County in western New York...

  Southeastern Niagara County in western New York...

  Orleans County in western New York...

  Northwestern Genesee County in western New York...

  Northwestern Monroe County in western New York...



* Until 530 PM EST.



* At 429 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line

  extending from near Hamlin Beach State Park to Kenmore, moving east

  at 20 mph.



  HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to 

           blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts 

           greater than 35 mph.



  SOURCE...Radar and webcams.



  IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous 

           within minutes.



This includes Interstate 90 between exits 49 and 53.

 

Locations impacted include...

Buffalo, Cheektowaga, West Seneca, North Tonawanda, Clarence,

Lockport, Kenmore, Depew, Tonawanda, and Amherst.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are

expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden

whiteout conditions.



Reduce speed and turn on headlights! During snow squalls, the

visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions.

  Southeastern Coos County in northern New Hampshire...

* At 434 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line

  extending from 8 miles southeast of Rangeley to 10 miles east of

  Errol to near Berlin, moving east at 30 mph.



  HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to 

           blowing snow and visibility rapidly falling to less than 

           one-quarter mile. Wind gusts up to 35 mph.

  IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous 

           within minutes.

Grafton, Strong, Woodstock, Mount Abram, South Arm, Carthage, Gorham,

Town Of Washington, Bethel, Rangeley Plantation, Albany, Byron,

Greenwood, Richardsontown, Rumford, Mason, Madrid, Newry, Hanover,

and Kingfield.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



There is no safe place on a highway when a snow squall hits.

Visibility and traction are immediately lost in whiteout conditions,

making it difficult or impossible to slow down and avoid stopped

vehicles. Delay travel or safely exit the highway before the snow

squall arrives.
