...A SNOW SQUALL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM MST FOR

SOUTHWESTERN GARFIELD...SOUTHEASTERN WASHINGTON...WESTERN KANE AND

SOUTHEASTERN IRON COUNTIES...



At 1106 AM MST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line

extending from 11 miles south of Panguitch Lake to 13 miles southeast

of Zion National Park, moving east at 40 mph.



HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to 

         blowing snow and visibility rapidly falling to less than 

         one-quarter mile. Wind gusts greater than 50 mph could 

         knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.



SOURCE...Radar, UDOT webcams, and surface observations.



IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous 

         within minutes.



This includes US Route 89 between mile markers 65 and 108.

 

Locations impacted include...

Kanab, Zion National Park, Apple Valley, Cedar Breaks National

Monument, Bryce Canyon National Park, Virgin, Orderville, Springdale,

Glendale, Rockville, Alton, Long Valley Junction, Mt Carmel, and

Coral Pink Sand Dunes.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes

your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra

time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead

to accidents.

Fog persists along the Chesapeake Bay north of North Beach this

afternoon. Visibility may be locally reduced to less than one 

nautical mile. While the current forecast calls for the fog to 

improve by late afternoon, reduced visibility may persist into 

tonight, when it could lower further.



If you must navigate, proceed with caution. Use proper fog

signals. Make sure all running lights are on. Remember to use

your radar and compass.
