At 914 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicate heavy rain falling over the Koolau Mountains with the heaviest rain between Maunawili and Hauula. Rain is falling at a rate of 2 to 4 inches per hour with pockets of over 6 inches per hour observed in Luluku and flash flooding is ongoing. The Likelike Highway off-ramp from H-3 Kaneohe-bound is closed due to heavy rain. Additionally, a significant rise has occurred in the Moanalua Stream on the leeward side of the Koolau Mountains with flash flooding possible in the Moanalua Valley and Mapunapuna industrial areas. Stream gauges also indicate recent sharp rises in the Kalihi and Kamananui Streams. HAZARD...Heavy rain producing life threatening flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.
