The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Kauai Northwest Waters...

  Kauai Windward Waters...



* Until 915 AM HST.



* At 715 AM HST, a strong thunderstorm was located 22 nm north of FAD

  Buoy BB, or 27 nm northeast of Moloaa, moving northwest at 10

  knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater and small hail.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  FAD Buoy BB, FAD Buoy EK, Kilauea Lighthouse, and Hanalei Bay.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.



Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the
