...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 AM MDT THIS

MORNING FOR EAST CENTRAL LEA COUNTY...



At 702 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy

rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have

fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in

the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin

shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Hobbs, Humble City, Nadine, Monument, Lea County Regional Airport,

  Industrial Airpark and Knowles.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.

Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National

Weather Service when you can do so safely.

A long-period south-southwest swell will produce surges in south 

facing harbors and breaking waves near harbor entrances today 

through Monday night. Mariners using these harbors should exercise

caution when entering or leaving and when mooring or launching 

vessels. Boaters should expect recreational surfers and body 

boarders utilizing harbor channels to access surfing areas.

* At 948 AM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located 19 nm northwest of

  Oswego, moving east at 45 knots.



  HAZARD...Wind gusts to 40 knots.

  IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and 

           suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Pillar Point, Alexandria Bay, Southwick Beach, Henderson Harbor,

  Wellesley Island, Westcott Beach, Chaumont Bay, Stony Point,

  Clayton, Sandy Island Beach, Black River Bay, Tibbets Point,

  Sackets Harbor, North Pond, St. Lawrence River, and Cape Vincent.
