...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM HST THIS

EVENING FOR THE ISLAND OF KAUAI IN KAUAI COUNTY...



At 832 PM HST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain over Kauai. Rain

was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Substantial rises

have been observed at the Wainiha River, Waialae Stream, Hanapepe

River, and Kawaikoi Stream gages. The Waimea River continues to

steadily rise. Rises on other area rivers and streams can also be

expected as heavy rain continues. Flash flooding is ongoing or

expected to begin shortly.



HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



SOURCE...Gauges reported.



IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,

         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor

         drainage and low-lying areas.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  The island of Kauai.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the

dangers of flooding.



Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
