The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Coastal waters from Cameron LA to High Island TX out 20 NM...

  Coastal waters from Intracoastal City to Cameron LA out 20 NM...



* Until 1000 AM CDT.



* At 855 AM CDT, a cluster of storms producing waterspouts was 

  located near West Cameron 45, or 14 nm southwest of Cameron, 

  moving west at 10 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Off duty forecaster.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

  West Cameron 66, West Cameron 45, West Cameron 53, West Cameron 65,

  West Cameron 62, West Cameron 73, West Cameron 48, and Cameron.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.

A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas...

  Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island 

  Louisiana out 20 to 60 NM...

  Coastal waters from Pascagoula Mississippi to Stake Island out 20 

  NM...



At 859 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong

thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and weak

waterspouts. This cluster of thunderstorms is generally located 25 nm

south of Petit Bois Pass, moving northwest at 25 knots.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Mariners can expect widespread gusty winds to around 30 knots, higher

waves and dangerous lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe

harbor immediately until this activity passes.



Brief, weak waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on

alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development.
