...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 AM MDT THIS

MORNING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL GARFIELD COUNTY...



At 914 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy

rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to

begin shortly.



HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing

         flash flooding.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of normally dry washes, slot

         canyons, streams, creeks, and rivers.



Some locations that will experience flash flooding include the

following slot canyons off of Hole-In-The-Rock Road...

  Spencer, Tunnel, The Gulch, Red Breaks, Zebra.



This includes Utah Route 12 between mile markers 72 and 74.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood

deaths occur in vehicles.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry

washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.



Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where

you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become

killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or

creeks.

|The threat for heavy rain and flash flooding has diminished for now,

but another round of thunderstorms is possible this afternoon and may

impact the area. For now, the heavy rain has ended, and flood waters

have receded. Please continue to heed any remaining road closures.
